CPI Event Helps Keep Paper Industry People Safe, Motivated and Informed

Over 240 delegates engaged with experts on a myriad of industry specific issues at CPI’s Biennial Health, Safety and Industry Conference 2019 in Kenilworth on 9 July.

Miles Roberts, Group Chief Executive of DS Smith plc set the tone of the conference with his opening keynote address, during which he urged the industry to take ownership of its own destiny, to set aside commercial interests and work together on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Reducing carbon emissions and eliminating plastic waste were real challenges that need to be tackled – today, and the Paper Industry was an integral part of the solution and can play a pivotal role in delivering a solution to the benefit of global society.

Martin Temple CBE, HSE Chair, began his keynote address by congratulating the UK Paper Industry on its support and commitment to the Paper and Board Industry Advisory Committee (PABIAC) and in achieving continuous and sustained health and safety improvements over the last 15 years. Martin then went on to Launch the next four-year PABIAC Strategy 2019 – 2023 ‘Health, Safety and Wellbeing – Hearts, Minds and People’

Alongside these activities, there was a very busy exhibitor area which delegates flocked to during coffee and lunch breaks. Main sponsors of the event were Hyster Europe and Pilz Automation Technology.
