11 May 2022

On Wednesday 11th May representatives of the UK’s Paper-based Industries gathered on the House of Lords Terrace for the first ever Paper Industry Gold Awards.   The awards were organised by the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) in partnership with the Paper Gold Medal Association.

Well over 100 people attended the Paper Industry Gold Awards 2022 from across industry, as well as key political stakeholders, to celebrate the achievements of the industry and recognise the exceptional work of individuals and companies within it. The awards culminated in the presentation of the Paper Gold Medal which is a lifetime achievement award for service above and beyond the norm in the UK’s Paper-based Industries.

There were over 40 entries across the seven categories: The Recycling Award; The Net Zero Award; The Sustainable Innovation Award; The Skills Award; The Community Engagement Award; The Health and Safety Award, and The Paper Gold Medal. The judging panel were most impressed with the wide selection of outstanding applications.

CPI Director General, Andrew Large said:

“CPI is delighted to have held the first ever Paper Industry Gold Awards at the House of Lords in partnership with the Paper Gold Medal Association. After years in lockdown it was good to meet with so many representatives of the Paper-based Industries face to face in an iconic location.

The Paper Industry Gold Awards showcased excellence within the industry.  The awards were an opportunity to reflect upon the many achievements of the industry in recent years and the essential role that the industry has to play in the UK economy.

The awards demonstrate the work being done to innovate and ensure a sustainable future for the industry, protecting and creating jobs in the UK. Further to this they show the role that businesses in the sector play in their communities.

Thank you to all those who entered the awards – there was a wide range of impressive entries, and it was difficult to choose the winners due to the high quality of applications. The UK’s Paper-based Industries have much to be proud of and it was great to have the opportunity to celebrate this.”
