Dimitra Rappou is a waste management professional with over 18 years of experience in the sector. In her previous role, as Principal Policy and Project Manager for London’s Environment Directors’ Network, Dimitra developed a range of policy projects and led London’s response to the Resources and Waste Strategy consultations, whilst building dynamic partnerships across members. For more than five years Dimitra was the London representative for the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) and also a member of the policy and conference teams and acted as a two-way link between the regional membership and the national forum. At the same time, as a member of the Board of Directors of an international network of members (Association of Cities and Regions for Sustainable Resource Management, ACR+), Dimitra was involved in strategy and planning of EU policies promoting sustainable consumption of resources. Dimitra worked for local and regional authorities for over 15 years; she managed North London Waste Authority’s award-winning waste prevention work, and worked for Haringey and Camden Council’s waste management departments.
