Sustainable packaging campaign group, beyond the box, urges Britons to stop sweeping sustainability under the rug and get recycling
Created by prolific artist, Paperboyo, two intricately crafted cardboard cut-outs are pictured in the rolling British countryside and on Bournemouth Beach to highlight the importance of making sustainable packaging a priority and keeping the UK’s nature hot spots free from litter. The images were commissioned by sustainable packaging initiative, Beyond the Box, ahead of Recycle Week (21st-27th September 2020).
Sustainable packaging initiative, Beyond the Box, has teamed up with paper-based artist Paperboyo to encourage even more Britons to get behind recycling this Recycle Week (21st – 27th September 2020).
The specially-created images, which depict two cardboard cut-outs clearing up picturesque natural landscapes, were unveiled alongside data revealing 24% of Brits have witnessed others littering in public[1], while 53% have knowingly thrown away packaging that could be recycled themselves[2].
Beyond the Box spokesperson Andy Barnetson explains: “The recent images of litter abandoned on our beaches and UK beauty spots have been startling and a stark reminder that, while many of us are making positive strides to look after the environment, there’s more to be done.
“This all starts with making simple, sustainable choices, whether that’s making recycling a priority this Recycle Week, or choosing sustainable packaging materials like cardboard, which is recyclable, renewable and reusable and has the best UK recycling record of any packaging material.
“These new, intricately-crafted images created by Paperboyo will remind us all that sustainability can’t be swept under the rug. In fact, we all have an important responsibility to make sustainable behaviour a priority and keep our beautiful British beaches, countryside, towns and cities spotless.”.
